Innovating Funding for Cultural Preservation and Public Goods

Background

Empowering Communities Through Creativity and Technology

WeCare Impact, in collaboration with Funding The Commons and Artizen, spearheaded two blockchain quadratic funding campaigns to empower marginalized communities and advance public goods.

The Humanitarian Fund for Displaced Storytellers preserved cultural heritage through multimedia projects created by refugees and displaced artists. Meanwhile, the Commons Fund for Public Goods Pioneers supported innovative solutions blending art, science, and technology.

By leveraging Web3 technology, these campaigns democratized funding, transforming small contributions into significant collective impact. This initiative highlighted the role of creativity and technology in addressing global challenges and driving meaningful change.

Our Challenge

Bridging Innovation and Accessibility

Introducing quadratic funding to marginalized communities, particularly refugees and displaced artists, posed a significant challenge. Many were unfamiliar with Web3 technology, making it essential to simplify and demystify this innovative funding model. Ensuring accessibility and fostering understanding were critical to encouraging participation and engagement.

In addition to education, the campaigns had to ensure funds were allocated effectively to impactful projects while building trust among creators, sponsors, and partners. Establishing a robust network of collaborators and cultivating meaningful community involvement were key to achieving lasting impact and sustainable success.

Our approach

Building Engagement and Driving Impact

Comprehensive Communication Strategy

We developed a tailored communication plan to make quadratic funding accessible and engaging for diverse communities, including refugees and displaced artists. Our messaging was designed to resonate with their unique experiences, ensuring clarity, inclusivity, and empowerment.

Ecosystem Development

We built a strong ecosystem by onboarding key artists and strategic partners, forging alliances with digital platforms, arts organizations, and advocacy groups. This network laid the foundation for sustainable support and long-term impact.

Community Engagement

A targeted engagement plan was central to the campaign’s success. Through webinars and educational content, we demystified quadratic funding, providing participants with practical guidance to maximize their involvement and impact.

Strategic Fund Allocation

We thoughtfully allocated funds to projects that prioritized cultural preservation and public goods, ensuring resources were directed toward initiatives with lasting community impact.

By combining these strategies, we created an inclusive framework that empowered marginalized communities, showcasing the transformative potential of art, technology, and collaboration.
